Did you know? Tucson Fire Department has been using buildings slated for demolition to practice important fire-fighting techniques in order to sharpen their skills. Crews have the chance to practice everything that they've learned both in books and on a limited basis in training. The opportunity to use a real buildings for training scenarios allows the fire fighters a chance to try things for the first time in a controlled environment, but also to try new techniques that are being shared on a national level. For example, crews try new ventilation techniques on rooftops made of different types of materials, forced entry through roll-up doors, removed security bars over both doors and windows, and even breached walls to self-extricate from the interior.
